Shoulder pain & mobility

When reaching for a cup or putting on a shirt becomes uncomfortable, the little things deserve proper attention.

Let’s talk about care ↗

A PLAN FOR A PERSON

Work towards easier, more confident daily movement.

Proposed care approach. Clinical suitability and service availability are confirmed before enrolment. Relief and results vary.

First, understand the story

Discuss the movements that feel limited, when the discomfort began and any existing diagnosis. An assessment comes before deciding which exercises, if any, are appropriate.

Then, practise with guidance

The physiotherapist can tailor mobility and strengthening work where suitable, with pain specialist review. Range, pace and progression are individual choices made with the team.

Keep the conversation going

Track what feels easier and what still gets in the way, such as dressing or reaching. The team reviews the plan rather than asking your parent to simply try harder.

A little context,
not a prescription.

Shoulder pain can have different causes, and treatment depends on the assessment. General guidance is not a diagnosis or a personalised exercise prescription.

General background: NHS: shoulder pain. This is not evidence of ami programme results. Your parent’s own clinician should guide their care.
